Vegan Cinnamon Rolls – Soft and Indulgent Cinnamon Swirl Recipe

Discover the ultimate vegan cinnamon rolls recipe: these famous ultra-soft cinnamon swirls are made 100% without eggs or dairy products thanks to the use of Whole Yumgo, a high-performance plant-based alternative. Perfect for brunch, afternoon tea, or a cozy treat.

Step 1: Prepare the Vegan Dough

  1. Pour the lukewarm water into the bowl of a stand mixer and add the crumbled yeast.
  2. Add the flour, sugar, salt, and powdered whole Yumgo.
  3. Mix for 10 minutes: start at low speed, then gradually increase to medium speed.
  4. Add the margarine cut into pieces at low speed until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually increase the speed until the dough completely pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Tip: If the final dough temperature is below 24°C (75°F), let the dough rest for 40 minutes at room temperature, degas it, then chill for 2–3 hours. If the dough temperature is above 24°C (75°F), place the brioche dough directly in the refrigerator.

Step 2: Shape the Cinnamon Rolls

  1. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 0.5 cm thick, then refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling: whisk together the margarine, sugar, and cinnamon until smooth and homogeneous.
  3. Spread a thin layer of cinnamon butter over the chilled dough.
  4. Roll the dough tightly into a log, then seal the edge with a little water.
  5. Chill the log for 30 minutes to make slicing easier.

Step 3: Proofing & Baking

  1. Cut into even slices (about 3–4 cm thick).
  2. Let the rolls proof for 2½ to 3 hours at 28°C (82°F).
  3. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) with fan/convection heat.
  4. Bake the cinnamon rolls until golden brown. Baking time depends on their size (approximately 18–22 minutes).
